I Believe in Us

We had an emotional weekend. We attended and presented at our friend’s memorial and then we spread his ashes in the sea. It was beautiful, but it also made it impossible to forget that he is gone, for good. My husband was gutted. Sometimes it takes a minute to realize what a good friend you had in someone, but in hindsight, all becomes clear.

Holding my husband that night, these words came to mind. I believe in us. I believe in our love. I believe in our efforts. I believe in our purpose. Nothing grand. Just to live a good life, love each other, and work to have a positive impact.

Later, I held my daughter as she was falling asleep. Again those words. I believe in us. This relationship. This warmth. This familial craft.

Our cat - the one everyone thinks isn’t snuggly enough. I believe in us. I rub his ears and let him come to me for moments. I see how he is present. This is how he does it.
